ABOUT THE ARTIST
I moved to Maine in 1998 to open Crosstrees Bed and Breakfast. My partner and I sold it in 2002. I am now painting full time and have recently opened Cygnet Gallery-Portland with my good friends Kim Swan and Brian Lazarus. .
I did my undergraduate work with Richard Slimon at Emporia State University, my graduate work with Bob Brawley and Mike Ott at Kansas University. I have studied with Steve Quiller in Creede, Colorado and Maine. I have also studied with Caleb Stone and Guy Corriero on Monhegan Island in Maine. Also with Mel Stabin in Cape Porpoise, Maine. I have gained so much experience from each of these talented professionals. My true excitement with painting was spurred by my introduction to color by my first Mentor Steve Quiller. What he does with color just blows me away.
I taught art and stagecraft design in Topeka, Kansas right out of college. I then was stage designer for Topeka Civic Theatre. I then moved to Kansas City, Missouri and taught a watercolor course at Kansas City Art Institute and worked as scenic designer for one of the largest tradeshow companies in the midwest.
Since moving to Kennebunkport, Maine I have been teaching private lessons and in the last few years have been selling my work through Mast Cove Gallery in Kennebunkport, Cygnet Gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine and recently opened Cygnet Gallery in Portland, Maine. I am a member of the Art Guild of the Kennebunks and won Best of Show for my watercolor Dinghies and a Punt. I was recently one of one hundred accepted in the New England Watercolor Society Bienniel Show which is a national Open show.
